Immerse Yourself in Dutch Culture

National Mill Days

Visit the Netherlands’ iconic and historical heritage during National Mill Days 11-12 May. More than 950 mills will be open to the public, with millers explaining its history and their trade. The millers also organise various fun activities, such as pancake baking, cycling tours and fairs. Mills have always played an important role in the Netherlands, however they are suffering due to non-operation. During the Dutch Mill Days you will be able to see most of the mills turning and might even be asked to give the miller a hand!

 

Dutch Beer Week

Taste a great variety of Dutch beers during Dutch Beer Week 16-26 May. All over the Netherlands, activities will be taking place for beer lovers to enjoy! The Dutch Beer Tasting Festival in The Hague takes place from 16-19 May in the Grote Kerk (church) in The Hague, where visitors can enjoy over 250 types of beers, alongside an array of tasty food. Dutch Brewery Days, 24-26 May, takes place all over the Netherlands with hundreds of Dutch breweries opening their doors to the public. Expect brewing demonstrations, beer tastings and presentations. Since the Netherlands is a country known for its excellent beer brewing, the Dutch Beer Week is a great way to learn more about Dutch culture!

 

North Sea Regatta

Regarded as the event of the year for competitive Dutch sailors, enjoy the North Sea Regatta from 28 May - 10 June. Admire the yachts and enjoy the fun atmosphere of this sailing event, taking place at the harbour of Scheveningen. There will be races, music and plenty of food and drink. Thousands of watersports fanatics are drawn to this annual event each year, however non-sailors of all ages are more than welcome too!

 

Asparagus Market Arcen

Taste the juicy White Gold of the Provence of Limburg during the Asparagus Market in Arcen on 30 May. Due to the large amount of vitamins, minerals and important nutrients in Asparagus, they are extremely healthy and often called the queen of vegetables! You will be surprised by their versatility and unique variations, such as Asparagus liqueur! The market takes place at the Raadhuisplein from 11:00 till 18:00. During the Asparagus' harvesting months, from April until June, the Limburg region offers many other activities within this theme.

 

Rooftop Days

Discover the beauty of Rotterdam during the Rooftop Days 31 May-2 June. More than 40 rooftops will be open to the public, in both famous and unknown locations, offering film nights, intimate concerts, silent disco’s, sport activities and children’s programmes. The event aims to inspire using rooftops to their full potential.

 

Open Farm Days

Experience real farm life during the Campina Open Farm Days on 31 May and 10 June. Various dairy farmers and farms throughout the country will offer informative and fun sessions for the whole family! Activities include a tour around the farm, tasting Campina’s dairy products, an obstacle course and skippy cow race for children! The farms can be visited on you've completed online registration and are open from 10:00 till 16:00.
