NIGERIA: Palletization of containerized cargo no longer required

The Nigerian government has recently introduced amendments to the Palletization Policy, removing the palletization of containerized cargo requirement.

The policy on palletised cargo was implemented in July 2017 and required use of wooden liftvans which resulted in the container being able to hold less furniture and boxes as opposed to the “loose“ loaded container. Following a series of complaints, the regulation was suspended in August and now it has officially ceased.

How does this affect the client?

Goods can continue to be loaded loose inside the container which means customers can use their entitlements in full.
