NIGERIA: Revised Import Guidelines for Shipments into the country

All containerized ocean freight imports into Nigeria are subject to new customs regulations.

From 11 July 2017 it will be mandatory for all shipments into Nigeria to be palletized and failure to comply will result in all non-palletized cargo to be denied entry into the country and returned to origin.

How does this affect the client?

Goods will no longer be loaded onto the container at residence but will be loaded in big wooden liftvans and brought back to the yard. At the movers yard the container will be loaded.  At destination the container will be offloaded at the yard and the liftvans will be brought to the residence. Due to the use of these liftvans the container can hold less furniture and boxes as opposed to the “loose“ loaded container.
