Holidays and Offices Closures

27 September 2017

MEXICO: Governmental office closures due to earthquake

After the recent and devastating earthquake in Mexico it has been announced that many governmental offices will remain closed in the wake of the event in order to cope with the aftermath until 2 October 2017.

Although the Mexico City International Airport immigration Office will remain open, from an immigration perspective this will mean delays in applications and from a move perspective delays are also expected due to the closure of customs. It is not yet clear how long any delays will last.

How does this affect the client?

Employers in Mexico should take these delays into account and make provisions to outgoing shipments. For Employers hoping to send foreign nationals to Mexico and also shipments into Mexico the same provisions should be made.
