CANADA: Additional step required when hiring LMIA Workers 

As of 28 August 2017, there will be a new requirement for Canadian employers wishing to hire foreign candidates that require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP). In addition to the current rules under job advertising for current LMIA’s they will be required to utilize the newly introduced Job Match Services.

The Job Match feature compares candidates’ profiles against job postings and rates their compatibility on a scale of one to five. The more stars received by a job seeker for a position, the greater their compatibility for the position. This change affects both high-wage and low-wage workers Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications. 

How does this affect the client?

Employers should be aware of new Job Match requirements for future LMIAs for both high-wage and low-wage jobs.
