CHINA: New improved Exit-Entry application process

Previously, applications for exit-entry documents had to be submitted at the Public Security Bureau linked to the applicant’s household registration (hukou). The Chinese government, however, has decided that as of 1 April applications can be submitted at any Public Security Bureau, regardless of the applicant’s household registration.

As a result, the application process will now be less time consuming and more efficient. The application procedure itself remains the same.

Furthermore, to help facilitate the application process, the Chinese government has launched an online application platform, where appointments can be scheduled and inquiries regarding application status’ can be made.

How does this affect the client?

  • Applicants will no longer need to travel to the Public Security Bureau of their household, saving both time and money.
  • The online platform allows for easier access to information regarding application related inquiries and appointment scheduling will be less time consuming.
