DENMARK: Increased salary levels 

Effective 1 January 2018, the minimum salary for foreign nationals working in Denmark under the Pay Limit scheme has increased to DKK 417,793.60 gross per year which is an increase of 2.2 percent from last year.

As in previous years, only base salary, paid holiday allowance and payments to the labour market pension scheme can be included in the minimum salary calculation. Benefits and allowances may only be included if they are specified in the employment contract or assignment letter.

The new minimum salary applies to applications submitted on or after 1 January. Employers of foreign nationals with pending applications, submitted before that date are not required to increase their’ minimum salary.

Foreign nationals applying to renew their residence permit do not have to comply with the new rule.

How does this affect the client?

Employers of foreign nationals applying for residence permits after 1 January 2018 must increase the foreign nationals’ minimum salary to comply with the new rule.
