GERMANY: More employer information required for foreign workers

The German Authorities have recently announced that they will be requiring more detailed employer information in order to pre approve certain applications for foreign nationals.  It will only be applicable for EU Blue Card applications of locally hired foreign nationals in occupations with a knowledge shortage as well as applications for locally hired nationals of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Israel, South Korea and finally the United States.

The new additional information that will be required will include whether the salary of the foreign national is determined by a collective labour agreement and if it is then the salary group will need to be confirmed. Further to this, overtime and holiday entitlement information will also need to be provided.

How does this affect the client?

Employers should ensure that their processes are updated to take into account the requirement for more information. This might also impact lead times as it could take longer to gather the information required.
