INDIA: Chennai introduces residence departure reporting
The authorities in Chennai have introduced new residence departure reporting formalities. The hotels, guest houses, serviced apartments as well as landlords are now required to report departures of foreign nationals via an online portal.
Initially the online portal was launched for hotels, guest houses, serviced apartments and landlords to register and complete a residency reporting form called Form C. Now reporting of departure/checkout of foreign nationals is required.
It is expected that this requirement will also be implemented in all other locations.
How does this affect the client?
Although the impact of noncompliance has not been yet announced and the reporting itself must be done by guest houses, serviced apartments and landlords, it is advised that foreign nationals and their employers ensure these formalities are completed.
