THE NETHERLANDS: Government application fees for recognised sponsorship and foreign workers adjusted for 2019

The application fees for foreign workers and for recognised sponsorship are adjusted annually by the Dutch Immigration Authorities (IND). 2019 sees a decrease in application fees for residence and work permits for foreign nationals, along with an increase in application fees for recognised sponsorship.

As per 1 January 2019, the application fees for foreign nationals and their dependents have decreased significantly. The new application fees for 2019 are as follows:

  • For highly skilled migrant, intra corporate transfer (ICT) and trainee/apprentice permits: € 285,-
  • For dependent family members: €171,-
  • For a search year after study: €171,-

The one-off application fees for recognized sponsorship, on the other hand, have increased slightly. The new fees for 2019 are:

  • For companies with less than 50 employees: €1.930,-
  • For companies with more than 50 employees: €13.861,-

An overview of all IND application fees can be found here.

How does this affect the client?

  • Companies interested in becoming a recognized sponsor should adjust their budget to accommodate the higher application fee.
  • Companies should adjust their budgets for hiring foreign workers, keeping the new application fees in mind.
