SINGAPORE: Mandatory settling-in requirements for work permit holders

Effective mid-2018, new work permit holders in all industries in Singapore are obliged to follow a Settling-In Programme (SIP). The SIP is designed for new work permit holders to get acquainted with Singaporean culture and laws in order to avoid potential social and economic issues during their settling-in. The fees for registration and courses are to be paid by the employers.

How does this affect the client?

Despite extra company costs, expats on assignment in Singapore are expected to benefit from the programme as their settling-in process will be accelerated.
