SINGAPORE: New Thumbprint Scanning System

As of 20 April 2016 all foreign visitors to Singapore are required to scan their thumbprints under a new BioScreen system every time they arrive and depart the country.

The system will be progressively implemented starting at the manned immigration counters of sea and land checkpoints, followed by air checkpoints until full implementation is completed in the months ahead.

This enhanced clearance system is intended to improve border security.

How Does This Affect the Client?

Travelers should expect longer lines at manned airport counters as the new system is introduced.
