UAE: Proof of medical insurance requirement for visa applications

Employers with incoming foreign employees, who remain on the home payroll of the origin country, will be required to indicate in which country the employee will be covered for social security.

How does this affect the client?

All UAE residents who are submitting a visa application with the Dubai Creative Cluster Authority (DCCA) should be prepared to convey a copy of medical insurance card in order for their visa application to be processed. This will affect all visas processed by the DCCA authorities, in particular the visa renewals.

In order to obtain health insurance, a stamped employment entry permit and Emirates ID registration form is required. These are available once the employee has entered the United Arab Emirates.

Background:

All individuals, including all foreign employees are obligated to be covered by health insurance from a Dubai health Authority approved provider. DCCA authorities have recently begun rejecting visa applicants if a copy of their health insurance card was not included in the application.
