UNITED KINGDOM: Government doubles exceptional talent (Tier 1) visas

The Government has announced that it is doubling the number of visas available through the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) route from 1,000 to 2,000 a year.

Tier 1 visas will be made available to non-EEA nationals who are recognised as existing global leaders or promising future leaders in the digital technology, science, arts and creative sectors by one of five UK endorsing organisations, including Arts Council England, Tech City UK and the Royal Society.

The current allocation of 1000 visas – which is split between the five endorsing organisations – will remain, and the additional places will be made available across all the endorsing bodies dependent on need.

This announcement is part of the government’s ongoing reforms for non-EEA nationals to come to the UK ahead of Brexit.

How does this affect the client?

This is a good news for highly skilled employees who whish to come to and work in the United Kingdom.
