BELGIUM: Employers of foreign workers obliged to appoint a contact person

Effective October 1, employers sending foreign workers to Belgium must appoint a local contact person that will act as a resource for the authorities. This person will be providing authorities with all work-related documents and information on posted workers. The details and identity of the contact person needs to be submitted in the Limosa declaration together with other information related to the posting.

In addition, all documents and information on foreign workers must be saved by the employer for one year after the assignment start dates.

How does this affect the client?

Employers of posted workers in Belgium who have not assigned a contact person for the authorities yet are advised to appoint one as soon as possible.

Declarations submitted before 1 October 2017 are not affected by this change.
