EUROPEAN UNION: New regulations added to entry-exit system

On the 20 November 2017, two regulations have been adopted by the European Council in order to further establish an entry-exit system which should be operational from 2020. The system is designed to reduce the waiting time at border checks, conduct more effective identification of over stayers and improve the prevention of terrorism. The two newly adopted regulations added to the system are expected to contribute to stronger and smarter EU borders.

How does this affect the client?

The exit-entry system will be applicable to non-EU nationals moving to the Schengen Area for short term stays. Assignees subject to the new system are expected to benefit from faster and safer border checks that could ease their relocation process.
