KAZAKHSTAN: Arrival process for visa holders simplified

As of 1 July 2018, the arrival process for work and business visa holders has been simplified.

Work and business visa holders are no longer required to complete a migration card which provides details about their purpose of stay. They are also exempt from the obligation of registering their passport with the local migration police, of which, according to previous rules, the migration police were stamping.

It’s important to note that the above change does not affect the requirement of notifying the local migration police of foreign visitor and employee arrivals. Employers are required to notify them about the arrival of all foreign nationals staying more than five calendar days within three business days of their arrival date.

The changes are not yet applicable to Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) nationals (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan), visa exempt nationals and nationals of ‘high-risk’ countries (including e.g. China, India and Pakistan)

How does this affect the client?

The eligible foreign nationals should benefit from a faster arrival process.
