UKRAINE: Visa waiver finally in force

As reported previously in ReloTalk, an agreement between Ukraine and the EU has been reached allowing Ukrainian citizens who hold a biometric passport to travel without a visa to the Schengen area for a period of 90 days within a 180 day period.

The agreement finally became effective as of 11 June and although it does not yet apply to work it allows travel for Ukrainian citizens to the EU for tourism and business purposes.

How does this affect the client?

This can greatly benefit employers who send Ukrainian employees to the EU for business purposes and is also intended to ease relations between Ukraine and the EU. There will be no more administrative burden or waiting time for visas for the aforementioned purposes. However, waiting times for biometric passports are set to increase.
